(CS) Business Units
Business units act as super grouping cost centers, where you can group one or many cost stream boxes together to combine.
Some common use cases for business units:
Teams within your company
Individual products, services or features within an app or service
Customers, 3rd parties or service providers who require showback or chargeback.
Individual accounts, or organization units within your AWS or cloud accounts.
For alerting & intelligence we also suggest using unique views for grouping cloud spend by product type and/or region. This can be super grouped into business untis as well.
Creating a BU.
Cilck create new.
Name your business unit, and assign a budget(if desired).
You can also assign a cohort(alerting and policy group).

Once a BU is created, you can view analytics, change settings or create a showback statement.
If the BU has a cohort and user assigned, a showback statement will automatically be created and emailed out to the user on or about the 7th of the month for the prior months usage in that BU.

Budgets for BUs
North will nativley allow for both user led budgets, and AI led budgets, visable in the cost stream business units.
User led budgets
Set by the user in the settings.
Will propagate in the line bar, and labeled "MTD Manual Budget"
AI led budgets
AI budgets will use historical data, and give users a pulsing green, yellow or red light in the top right of all BU boxes. This will let the user know if the BU or cost stream is pacing to be below(green), about(yellow), or over(red) the AI budget, based on historical spending trends within the portion of the cloud account(s) that make up that BU or coststream.
Showback
Showback statements can be manually created and shared in business units. Showback is always done form the business unit level, showback for individual cost streams is not currently supported.
To create a showback statement, please hit the showback icon at the bottom right.
