100% Optimization Powered by Savings Plans
North.Cloud delivers industry-leading savings, our entire compute optimization engine is built exclusively on AWS Savings Plans. We are the only provider in the market to fully commit to this flexible, modern approach, ensuring you get maximum coverage without the rigidities of traditional reserved instances. All your EC2, Lambda, and ECS Fargate workloads benefit from best-in-class, always-on savings, with zero risk of being locked into the wrong resource or architecture. North also offers direct, seamless support for CloudFront and SageMaker Savings Plans, providing targeted coverage across core AWS cloud products, all in one place.
Types of AWS Savings Plans Offered by North
North.Cloud supports three distinct flavors of AWS Savings Plans, each with unique coverage and flexibility, but all designed to help you maximize your savings with no upfront investment and no lock-in:
Compute Savings Plans
Coverage: EC2 (across all regions, families, and OS types), Lambda, and ECS Fargate.
How it works: North analyzes your historical on-demand compute usage and recommends a flexible hourly commitment that matches your real workloads. You only commit to what you actually use, and there are no upfront costs—charges accrue smoothly as you use your cloud resources. North’s Compute Savings Plans adapt automatically as your workload shifts, so you’re always right-sized.
Benefits: Maximum flexibility (no resource or AZ restrictions), industry-leading savings, and zero long-term lock-in.
Database Savings Plans [NEW]
Coverage: Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB*, ElastiCache, DocumentDB, Neptune, KeySpaces, Timestream, Data Migration Service.
How it works: North analyzes your historical on-demand database usage and recommends a flexible hourly commitment that matches your real workloads.
CloudFront Savings Plans
Coverage: Amazon CloudFront CDN usage.
How it works: These operate as a monthly “drawdown” plan—commit to a minimum monthly CloudFront spend, and all usage under the commitment is billed at a deeply discounted rate (typically offering around a 30% savings over standard on-demand pricing). For example, if your on-demand CloudFront usage averages $10,000/month, we might recommend a $7,000 commitment, covering most of your needs and delivering close to $3,000 in monthly savings. AWS may display this as a single commitment amount, but it applies across your whole month and is not an upfront, one-time fee.
Benefits: Substantial savings with no upfront payment, highly flexible to match your actual CDN usage throughout the month, and fully managed with North.
SageMaker Savings Plans
Coverage: AWS SageMaker services for ML/AI workloads.
How it works: SageMaker Savings Plans function much like Compute Savings Plans—commit at an hourly rate, gain access to discounted pricing across supported SageMaker services, and enjoy total flexibility as your machine learning workloads scale up or down.
Benefits: Deep, commitment-based savings with no upfront charges, total flexibility, and seamless integration alongside your other North commitments.

How to Read and Understand Your Data
Interpreting your dashboard and recommendations is easy:
Why North Recommends a Commitment: North’s logic is rooted in your actual historical on-demand usage—on-demand represents cloud spend at the full public rate, missing any discount benefit. Our systems recommend savings plan commitments (expressed as $/hr or $/month, depending on the plan) that align with this baseline, right-sizing for your specific footprint and historical usage patterns. There’s never any upfront cost—you only ever pay for what you use, and your commitment flexes up or down as your workloads change.
Analyzing the Commitments Page & Spend Graph: On the Commitments page and associated graphs, you can see usage for the past 30 days, including the proportion of spend covered by on-demand, savings plans, or reserved instances. This makes it easy to spot where further savings are possible—and how recommendations will cover your current on-demand (and save you money).
Comparing Managed vs. Unmanaged Reservations: If you have existing AWS reservations or Savings Plans not managed by North, the dashboard visualizes both types. For unmanaged commitments, we clearly indicate what your potential future savings could be if you moved to fully managed, flexible North Savings Plans.
CloudFront Plan Details: For CloudFront, it’s straightforward: your recommended commitment is based on prior monthly on-demand usage, targeting a commitment just below average, ensuring maximum coverage and typically 30%+ savings. AWS may show the commitment as a single figure, but it is applied across the entire month—no amortization or upfront fees required.
SageMaker Plan Details: SageMaker plans are just as flexible as Compute Savings Plans—commitment is based on real usage, savings are immediate, and plans adjust as your ML needs evolve.
Tip: The fastest path to maximizing savings is to reduce your on-demand exposure and increase your flexible Savings Plan coverage. North’s easy-to-read stats make every opportunity crystal clear, so you can act quickly and with confidence.
